A bit about me

Born in the Netherlands in 1984 and raised in the heart of the “Randstad” in Alphen aan den Rijn. Right from being young I was a big fan of Lego and engineering in general. The fact you could build complex machinery out of simple parts is a puzzle I can enjoy to the present day. My Father - who worked at a construction company - only further raised my interest in the people who really “made” the world. If I cross one off the buildings he helped to built decades ago, it still made me proud.

During secondary education i made a quick decision to focus my attention to the technical school subjects like math, chemistry and physics. I really liked how you can translate and predict nature in basic calculations. The whole approach and thought process of how to reduce problems to basic models and calculations is a technical skill I still use on a daily base.

After secondary education I continued as a Mechanical Engineering student, first as Intermediate Vocational Education, which gave me good practical skills and experience. After which I studied further as Mechanical Engineer and achieved my Bachelor of Engineering at the TH Rijswijk. During my study I worked in the evening and weekends as maintenance technician for several companies, whereby I enjoy the practical work beside the theoretical study.

Today I work as Project Manager on large civil and infrastructural projects, usually on or around water. In addition im a “Maker” as a sideline hobby in my (limited :-) spare time.
